Athens was insane! Our hotel was in the ghetto!! There was barbed wire on top of all the fences and buildings. Every hotel and shop has a security guard wearing a bullet proof vest. There are police everywhere wearing bullet proof vests. There are signs about pickpockets in our hostel.
We caught the metro the the port to get our ferry to Mykonos and there was this drugged out guy who has smashed a window at a little newsagent down at the train station, and he was stealing phone cards. He'd sat his syringe on the counter while he was grabbing stuff. The police came and chased him over the train tracks. Someone got their bag stolen at the port too.
We did all the things in Athens - Acropolis, Parthenon, Zeus' Temple and the Olympic Stadium. It was such a hot day and there was no shade.
