Paris Two

Hi family,

We've had a very busy couple of days! We arrived on Sunday and wandered around, did some exploring, ate some macarons, took lots of photos, etc etc. On Monday we did some more exploring, found the Louvre, collected Tameeka from the airport and did some more exploring. Yesterday we picked up a hire car and Stoph drove in Paris and out to Longeval to see the London Cemetery and Extension where Mitch’s Great Great Uncle is buried. The roads here are mad, the speed limit is 130km, and 110km if its raining. It was mad! The town of Longeval is picturesque and so beautiful. There was a Year 9 history class at the cemetery when we got there, so we listened in and it was really interesting. There are 3800 soldiers buried there, and 3100 remain unidentified. We checked out Notre Dame - it is huge. Last night we saw the Moulin Rouge all lit up, and had dinner at a French restaurant - we ate foie gras (disgusting) and snails (not so disgusting). Couldn’t get frogs legs though. It doesn't get dark here until 10.30pm. So strange.
Today we went to the Louvre. Saw the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa. Took a cool photo for you Mare - it's attached - guess which one? Haha. It was bedlam trying to see the Mona Lisa, people were literally pushing each other! We left the Louvre and walked the Champs Élysées (spelling?) to the Arc di Triomphe and then caught the train to the Eiffel Tower. The line to get up was MASSIVE, so we are going back tonight to see it lit up in the dark. My poor hooves are hurting. Lucky I bought good walking shoes.

We've had pretty terrible weather, it's been raining and really really cold! I think it's colder here than it was at home. So much for the European summer.

Tomorrow we are catching a bus at 8am to Bruges, Belgium. Should take about 5 hours.

I hope I haven't attached too many photos - I've taken about 550!

Just about to go to dinner (find some frogs legs with any luck) and then off to the Eiffel Tower. When we were there today, Tameeka and I talked this man into giving us two little figures for one Euro, when he had initally said four Euro each!!!

Chris says hi to all.

Lots of love,

Meg

Beautiful photos.
I'm not so sure about the snails ... or whether I'd bother looking too far for the frogs' legs.
But I guess, when in Rome! (or Paris as the case may be).
