As happened with Drew, the day of Meg's departure marched relentlessly closer. She finished work with a week to spare and spent the time buying last minute supplies, having her hair done, being waxed and taking my Dad and me to a neurologist in Wickham Terrace. Yes, he does have mild Parkinsons; no it won't kill him; yes he will have to take a tablet; no he won't have to go back to the specialist; yes he should move from his 14 steps high house to a low house. We had some funny moments in the doctor's room, three generations together, enjoying each other. We had to drop into head office to deal with Gibbo's visa for China so we parked Mate under a tree and left him to eat his lunch. He was still there when we got back.
So Friday rolled around. I still couldn't believe Meg was going away. We packed and headed to Brisbane, calling in to buy a carry on roller for Gibbo for his trip to Korea and China and some locks and an indoor clothesline for the kids. We got to Brisbane in the dark and rain and went to Toowong for takeaway dinner; Gibbo had subbie, the rest of us had indian.
Saturday morning was leisurely. We headed to the airport at 10ish and got there way too early. We sat around and waited for Mitch to arrive and when he did, the kids booked in. By this time it was 12.30 and Gibbo had to get over to the domestic terminal to catch his flight to Rocky. So he and I said a quick goodbye, hugs and kisses all round and we were off. Bye Bye Megey, I Miss You Already.
And now I can't get onto blogger on the laptop to load the photos so they will have to wait. Off to bed with the dog. Goodnight to my little family, spread across the country and the world.
