Gone Again - South then North

I worked the October public holiday; then, on the Tuesday, we went away for 6 days. First to the south to look at some cattle. It was a beautiful setting; the staked tyre not so beautiful. As I was still recovering from my surgery, all I could do was watch.

On the Wednesday we drove back up to the Gold Coast to attend the annual feedlot conference. A submission I wrote won category 1 in the industry Safe Work 2014 Awards.

After two days of feedlotting we stayed on for the annual wagyu conference where our beef won a gold and some bronze medals in the branded beef awards. Our meat features on the menu for the gala dinner each year and Gibbo gives the introductory speech. I make a Powerpoint presentation of a couple of hundred photos that showcase The Company and especially the wagyu production chain; it runs on a huge screen throughout the dinner. There's also an auction held to raise funds for the RFDS; a box of Company steaks is sold and the same person buys it each year. I took a bunch of photos of the beef award winners for Beef Central.

After 4 nights of dinners/socialising/eating/drinking/talking I was well and truly ready to go home.
