Another Busy Week and Weekend

We arrived home from the wagyu conference, unpacked then went straight into another busy week at work. We had a group of 16 down from the northern properties to attend a supply chain forum; they toured the feedlot and visited a local abattoir to see Company cattle processed and attended a feeder steer and vet session. We went out with them 3 nights for dinner - in town for a pub meal (our meat); a bbq at the main house and on the third night we surprised them with dinner at an Indian restaurant in town. After 4 nights the week before and three nights again with the northern group we were exhausted by the time the weekend came.

The pace didn't slow down over the weekend of the 18th. We had visitors - an old friend and his 3 kids came to stay and brought their motor bikes. The kids had a great time riding around the farm and AD helped Gibbo in the yards with cattle work. I was still a bit too fragile physically to do too much.

Due to the very dry conditions we sold 12 of our cows and the last of the heifers (11) from the 2012 drop to a buyer in CQ. We also sold 14 of the 17 weaner steers to a local backgrounder to help lighten numbers; we kept 3 as bulls. That left us with 25hd on farm.
