Easter 2013

We've had a really happy four day break with lots of activity. Meg came home Friday and we expected Drew home on Saturday; Meg woke me up on Friday night at 12.30 and said "come have a look at this" - and there was Drew standing in the kitchen! He had dropped his friend at the airport and then driven home.

Here's a random selection of photos depicting our weekend, in no particular order.

There was an entertaining hunt for eggs.

There was some tree lopping.

Baking.

Preserving - strawberry jam and tomato relish.

Washing - a lot of washing. Both kids brought baskets and baskets of it home. Now that we have the small matter of an electricity bill to be accountable for (after not paying a household one for 25 years as power was supplied with the company house) I am a little more mindful of not using the dryer. Meg and Gibbo came to an arrangement whereby she can rent the dryer for $5 a go; hence, the sheets on the clothesline.

Recycling. I needed a washing trolley. This used to sit in the garden at the old house and hold a pot plant. The cane washing basket fits perfectly in it.

Some sorting.

Some re-arranging.

The little day bed still needs to find a home. We bought it on our honeymoon eons ago and it served as both children's first bed before they graduated to full size.

Some hanging.

Some assembling.

We're off the floor and back in bed.

Some fencing of the goat paddock. I'm pretty keen to get this job finished so that Pepper and The Marauders can go behind bars.

Some concreting.

Some storm chasing that resulted in a very heavy fall of 23mm.

Some mowing. In fact, a lot of mowing.

Some setting out of pots. Lots of plants have the tips nipped off, courtesy of The Marauders.

Some telling of tales to Grandma.

Some mischief.

Some beauty.

Some day-time napping.

Some planting of herbs.

Some visitors. This is Cousin Mandy. Ten of the Boxing Day crew came for a visit and for Joey to plumb in the hand basin in the bathroom. Meg lives with Mandy and her family.

There wasn't much of this....it was too good a weekend to spend inside, sorting. It can wait for a rainy day.

It was a wonderful weekend spent settling into our new home. I have to say it feels fantastic.
