A Day in the Life

My Dad and I met this morning to go his solicitor together to tie up a couple of loose ends. It took all of five minutes, much quicker (and easier) than we had anticipated. I then had over two hours to fill in until my haircut; I had visions of going to the CClub and reading the paper (luxury) but I ended up running into several people and talking for ages. Then I rang Andrew to pick his brains about the goat milking stand that Meg wants to make (or have someone make for her). He suggested I grab some morning tea from the bakery and go out to see him at The Shed. So yes, I bought jam cream donuts, vanilla slices and chocolate milks and went to him. When you look like Andrew and I do you can get away with eating anything, anytime. He is actually skinnier than me. We laugh at his chicken legs.

Then I met up with Meg to buy a new skirt pattern for her (and some of the same material as my skirt); but first we ducked into a local dress shop where I had gone to look for a piece of jewellery to match the skirt material (being worn with a plain black jumper it will need something to lift it). I found a fabulous little dress that I thought might be perfect for Drew's formal but I needed a second opinion. To cut a long story short, I bought it - and a second one. There was a deal - two items for $100 so I bought a second dress. I used the money that my parents gave me for my bday. I didn't think Drew would like it (but he says he really does??) and I'm sure that GIBBO WON'T LIKE IT.............It's very Twiggy and rather short. I was a bit worried about looking like mutton etc but Meg assures me no, it's perfect, and she would definitely tell me if it wasn't ok.

So I had my hair trimmed and came out to the office for a couple of hours. I continued on with the skirt when I got home (it's nearly finished) and as I was sewing away, Coco began barking. I walked to the door and saw this.....................

and this................

Just then Megan drove in over the grid. I flagged her down. She jumped out of the car and said, "oohh, how did dem goats get in here?". Obviously someone isn't tying their pen up properly. Pepper got all excited when she heard Megan's voice. Peach just did the usual berserk thing.

The kids cooked dinner while I got the laptop and papers ready for the PEB meeting. I've been on the Board for three years and been secretary for half that time. There's only two meetings to go, then I hand the reins on to someone else. I can't believe it's been three years since that very first meeting I went to when I was so nervous. I have no idea what I've contributed in the time since but I've been a presence (and a distributor of minutes and agendas and, on occasion, a supplier of thai chicken mince balls).

Gibbo is doing it tough in Bris - out for dinner with ceo/md at Char Char Char having wagyu cheeks or some other such delicacy. When he said he'd try to get home tomorrow night I told him he'd have to come home eventually. He thought I was being funny. I wasn't.

We head to Canberra on Friday. I'm quite looking forward to it. It will be school holidays so there's nothing to organise at home. I'm saving up all the little bits of reading that I haven't managed to get to, for the plane and free time. Meg is having some friends out from Bris. Drew has Friday off and will work at Mary's that night; then his regular shift on Sat afternoon then waiter at the Careflight dinner on Sat night. Should keep him out of mischief while I'm away.
