We're in the South

We left home nearly a week ago and have found ourselves in the south of the country, in Victoria. We came down to attend our annual cattle conference. G was conference committee chairman which means a busy time/days/nights. However, this year he resigned from the council after 9 years of service.

Proceedings were held at a fantastic venue at the end of the pier in Geelong city. We had a great few days meeting new people and catching up with old friends. The Saturday night dinner is sponsored by the company we work for and the meat eaten throughout the weekend is all ours. We won a gold medal in each of the two grainfed categories in the branded beef competition. We stayed until the end on both nights and were nearly the last to leave on the Sunday.

Sunday night we caught up with some regular suppliers to discuss future numbers at the same restaurant where we'd had lunch on Friday. It was a good end to a lovely weekend.

Pretty coffee with KJ and Miss LJ.

On the Friday we had lunch with a supplier that I've talked to on the phone many times but never actually met. My entree was pork belly.

Gibbo's was mixed oysters. We had king george whiting for our mains.

Saturday night dinner decorations.

Seafood chowder, Sunday night. I thought it was a beautiful looking dish.

I had these prawns. By then I was so overfull with beef, wine and coffee that I had an entree as my main and still couldn't eat it all. This dish was magnificent.

The Pier. The cocktail party and the dinner were both held in the room and on the balcony front right.
