Happenings

Favourite (only) daughter Meg is in Mackay tonight, heading for Townsville. Favourite (only) little brother Andrew is heading for Charleville on a bit of a mercy dash. He and three others are heading out to pack up a shop and then strip it; the shop had a foot of water through it on Tuesday and the water is rising again. When I just spoke to him he still had three hours to go and wasn't even sure he was going to get there. He expected to run into trouble about 20km from Charleville where the council has closed the road.

Absolutely awesome rainfall has been recorded across the south-east and west of Queensland. Some centres have had their annual rainfall in a couple of days. It's an amazing country "of drought and flooding rains".

In other news - there isn't any really. Life goes on; cattle continue to arrive; cattle continue to leave for slaughter; that's about it.

Is Meg driving?

If so, she would have driven right past our front gate. We're right on the highway between Rocky and Mackay.

We're still getting rain too, nothing like the south-west though.
