Bokashi 101

These photos are a few weeks old now; recorded for future reference.

9 in the Bed

On Jan 5, Billie started making her bed.

Drew helped her.

I went out at 11pm to check on her - and there were 9 little piglets all lined up, suckling!

In the clear light of day, there they were - 7 boys and 2 girls! So cute!

Books

My recent purchases from Booktopia - now I just need to find time to read them….

Old Friends

Last weekend also gifted me a long overdue catchup with a very dear friend; we've known each other for nearly 50 years! 50 YEARS!! She lives in Canada now and we haven't seen each other for six and a half years! When I walked into the cafe to meet her for breakfast she was standing in the doorway, waiting to greet me. I just melted and burst into tears and we hugged and hugged. Over the next several hours we talked and laughed and talked and cried and talked and reminisced and caught up on each other's pre and post marriage/children family news. Different things each of us said could have been the other one talking (if that makes sense). It was wonderful and saying goodbye was bittersweet. Who knows how long it will be before we see each other again?

Solar Solar

The solar pump and panel were also set up last weekend (09/01) and met with a slight hiccup with water flow. It needs a bit of adjustment but should be good in another week or so.

The Sign is Up

Last weekend, the one before we went back to work, was filled with lots of last minute jobs and a feeling of "bugger, that went quick". One of those jobs was to hang the remodelled sign at the front entrance.

The New Tank

The windmill has been pulled; the new solar pump is being installed today. The boys worked hard over the last week, in between the rain days, to get all the bits and pieces in place. Having the mill bore operational and pumping water to this new tank and a second one in the laneway provides a separate water supply to the existing bore. It's a good backup. It means that a trough that's been dry since we moved here will now have a water supply and will feed 2 paddocks. Previously, when cattle were in these paddocks, the trough at the yards was their closest water supply.

The local man came with his digger.

I was unable to be there so my usual role as QA Officer was taken by Drew; here's the proof of a job well done.

Cuddles for Coco.

Finished and waiting for the fittings.

Let it Rain

On Tuesday, 5th, we woke up to the beautiful sound of rain on the roof (even I could hear it)! It rained all day. All. Day. It was just too wet for outside jobs. Still on holidays I laid in bed reading my book. Until 2pm. Unheard of! The boys were catching up on some tv viewing; I figured I was using my time just as judiciously - reading - but instead of sitting up in a chair I was propped up in bed. I was supplied with tea and coffee and lunch!

Drew ducked out for some chives for the crispy skinned pork belly that he prepared for dinner.

Getting wet.

Our tank runneth over.

The orchard trees loved the drenching.

The Wild Area; still messy, still needing a tidy, still a work in progress.

All. Day!
