We arrived home this morning to be met by both kids; a great surprise! Cruise pics to come, too tired tonight.

This Weekend, 12 Months Ago
The big move was in full swing 12 months ago. It poured with rain. I can still remember how overwhelming the task of moving seemed...and it was! Looking back.
Somehow, we made it!
Somehow, we made it!
Another Airport Pickup
Between the 3 other family members, I've spent quite a lot of time sitting in front of these doors, waiting for someone I recognise to come through.
And here he is, home again. No clean clothes and no money but happy and looking well. Typical Uni student.
We had the car packed with all his gear and went straight to the new unit from the airport. The bedroom with ensuite.
The lounge room. Sharing with two other students.
The carpet from India; destined for many a spillage I predict.
The view from the 2nd floor unit. A beautiful spot just a few minutes walk from Uni.
We took all 3 to Sizzlers for lunch then swung by the bottleshop on the way back to the unit.

And so ended our busy week - cricket on Monday, another funeral and Bruce on Wednesday and Drew home Thursday. Back to work we went on Friday. This time next week we'll be sailing up the Brisbane River heading for the ocean. Looking forward to that very much.
A Totally Unexpected and Overwhelmingly Wonderful Surprise
Tuesday night.
7pm.
Gibbo's phone rings.
Voice on other end asks if we would be interested in two tickets to see Bruce Springsteen.
Tomorrow night.
There were tears.
Of excitement.
Not a lot excites me.
Ever.
Seeing Bruce up close and personal twice in 12 months?
That excites me.
We said yes.
One of us reluctantly said yes but he loves me so he said yes.
So there we were.
Row 5 on the floor. Seats 50 and 51.
Awesome.
Amazing.
Incredible.
Lucky.
3 and 1/2 hours of singing, dancing, clapping, waving.
Tears.
Of joy.
Thank you Julian.
You made my year.
On the big screen.
There was a walkway just in front of Row 1. He brought his guitar and microphone down a couple of times and sang from just there.

The End of the Journey
Drew is back in Paris; his internship and tour of Eastern Europe is done. Home on Thursday. More random pics.
Auschwitz.
More from Lake Bled; sounds and looks kind of ominously beautiful.

And So It Was...
Man of the Match award, presented last night at the dinner held in the members room overlooking an empty Gabba. Another great read book to prop up my bike's front tyre.
The final count - 59 runs, 2 catches and 1 wicket. When he shines, he shines.

A Golden Oldie Day on the Green
I find myself again at a Golden Oldies match, fighting my way through the crowd of enthusiastic spectators. Not.
The annual Qld v NSW match is being played right now. I'm still in the grandstand. Still with all my friends. The two girls that I came along to see (as well as to watch G play) aren't here. One is in Perth and the other is sick at home. Bummer.
There was mild panic at home yesterday when G got his cricket clothes out. I came home from the office (Sunday, end of month) to the news that something terrible had happened. I thought there must have been another water leak or an animal fatality. No. He discovered his QCC pants had the fork ripped out of them. It happened last time he played but he'd forgotten.
Lucky I know my way around a sewing machine.
My lunch. I bought my own at the grounds cafe then had sandwiches and a muffin from the team lunch.
The two on the right are discussing the opposition players.
The full team; nine of these players were on the England tour 4 years ago.
Inspecting the pitch.
Warming up.
Full flight.
Retiring at 40 (you have to). If you don't get out you are able to go back in once the entire team has batted. G went back in and made another 19.
Now he wants a plaque....
Game isn't over yet. I think he also got a wicket. I may not have been watching at that moment. There's a dinner tonight at The Gabba. I brought a dress with me. There's a strict dress code.
